Questions families ask

If your question isn’t here, call +94 76 295 7755 — a coordinator will be glad to help.

Caregivers

Is a Care On Call caregiver a nurse?

No. Care On Call caregivers provide non-clinical support: daily living, personal care, mobility, meals, companionship and medication reminders. They do not diagnose, treat, give injections or change medication.

If your loved one needs clinical care, we offer separate home nursing shifts by trained nurses, and can arrange doctor visits, physiotherapy and other services, quoted separately.

What happens if we are not happy with the caregiver?

Call +94 76 295 7755 or message your coordinator. We review what did not work and arrange a better-suited replacement within 24 hours. This applies to active Care On Call caregiver arrangements; full terms are confirmed in your service agreement.

Can the caregiver give medication?

Caregivers give reminders according to existing family or clinician instructions. They do not prescribe, change or administer medication beyond reminder support. Where medication must be administered, a nurse visit or home nursing shift can be arranged.

Do you provide emergency or ambulance services?

No. Caregivers do not provide ambulance or emergency response. In an emergency, call 1990 (Suwa Seriya ambulance) or go to the nearest hospital, then let your coordinator know.

Getting started

How quickly can care start?

It depends on the arrangement and caregiver availability. Start dates are confirmed at booking. We do not guarantee same-day placement, so if you are planning a hospital discharge, please contact us as early as possible.

Is everything agreed in writing?

Yes. The scope of care, schedule, pricing and all inclusions and exclusions are confirmed in writing before care begins.

Pricing

How much does a caregiver cost?

Caregiver arrangements are priced after a short care discussion, because the hours, schedule and level of support differ for every family. You receive a written quotation with all inclusions and exclusions before anything begins, and there is no obligation until you confirm it.

Home nursing shifts, residential care and add-on services have published rates on our pricing page.

What is included in the price?

Every arrangement includes the initial care-needs discussion, caregiver matching, an agreed duty schedule, family coordination, routine communication, care reviews for long-term care, continuity support where possible and the 24-hour replacement guarantee.

Doctor and nurse clinical visits, physiotherapy, laboratory tests, medication, medical consumables, medical equipment, ambulance or special transport, and duties outside the agreed scope are quoted separately.

What does home nursing cost?

Home nursing is charged per 12-hour or 24-hour shift, from Rs. 3,300 for a 12-hour normal care shift. Monthly critical care and post-surgical care packages include a free doctor visit or registered nurse visit. See the full table on our pricing page.

Overseas families

I live overseas. Can I arrange care from abroad?

Yes — many of the families we support live abroad. We can do the whole process by phone, WhatsApp and email, arrange and supervise the caregiver locally, and send updates on a schedule that suits your time zone. Family liaison visits and hospital appointment scheduling are available as add-ons.
